This is not a colorful platformer for the youngest - Iconoclasts review

Iconclasts is a game that has its flaws, but still manages to give us a lot of great fun. It's not a colorful platformer for the youngest, because the first thing that strikes you after launching the game is excellent visuals, which are colorful, friendly to the eye encouraging to start the campaign and try your hand at this game. However, it quickly turns out that we are dealing with a game that requires a bit more skill than just mindless execution of simple tasks and smashing enemies.

This does not change the fact that the graphics are the biggest advantage of the game, which was independently created by Joakim Sandberg. The setting strongly refers to the classic platformers, but you can see right away that the production years ago could not exist. Locations are made in two dimensions, but each of the places we visit during the game has a lot of details. It is worth looking at the screens to see that the game is really different than those known so far.

The old proverb says that you can't eat from a nice bowl. Therefore, underneath the visuals there is also an interesting gameplay. From the very beginning you can see that you need to strain your brain cells to cope with the passage of the game. Quick button pressing is very useful, but it won't do much if we won't be able to cope with the environmental puzzles that will appear, and this game brings us a whole bunch of them.

Sometimes it seems that the creator requires from us impossible things and forces us to activate the platform and move quickly. After many attempts to sprint we realize that we're trying to do stupid things, because there are mechanisms that will block our next steps and thus our possible activity will be stopped.

Puzzles are one thing, but as we know in this game there are also fights with enemies. In addition to serial enemies there are also additional fights with bosses. In this way, the demands that the game puts on us are even greater and defeating them will not be an easy task. Discussing the fights it's also worth saying that it's a game that at the very beginning aims at evaluating the skills of players, so what we can do is of the utmost importance for the results of the clashes, even if these are clashes with bosses.

This game also relies quite heavily on the storyline, emphasizing the storytelling. It all revolves around repairing various machines by the main character, who, however, due to the conditions of the place where she is, cannot do this without risking her life at the same time. The game is not perfect, it has its drawbacks, but the expansion that it brings us and many tasks to complete are the factors that make this game unique and indeed the user will be drawn into it for a long time. Among currently available platformers it seems to be a proposal which is worth getting interested in. The whole game will be memorable for a long time.
